Sinitic selects Malta as base for European market expansion

Monday, 28 October 2019

Sinitic is pleased to announce the establishment of its latest office in Valletta, Malta. This co-location, focused on the expansion of Sinitic’s award-winning natural language processing (NLP) solutions into the European market, is fully supported by Malta Enterprise. ‍ “The investment being carried out by Sinitic is in line with the vision of the Maltese Government to attract highly innovative projects. This investment will enable us to continue to diversify further our economy and to develop a new niche in the field of Natural Language Processing,” said Malta Enterprise CEO Kurt Farrugia. Faruggia added, “This project will contribute positively to further develop Malta’s AI ecosystem. As Malta Enterprise, we remain committed to continuously support highly innovative entrepreneurs to set-up their business in Malta.” “We look forward to strengthening the sustainability of Malta’s innovation ecosystem,” said Sinitic CEO Curtis Matlock. “Sinitic’s AI customer experience solution for the Online Gaming industry provides high-quality opportunities for local machine-learning talent, especially at a time when those high-turnover customer support jobs are shifting to Eastern Europe, and the Malta Gaming Authority reports that operators are having a difficult time sourcing local human resources.” ‍ As of 2019, the gaming industry is responsible for 13.2% of Malta’s economic activity, and is a key driver of overall market growth that has exceeded the European Union average by a x3 factor. The principle mission of the Maltese government’s AI Taskforce is the diversification of this economic growth into automation technologies, following the successful positioning of the island as a base for blockchain firms. “Malta’s deep multilingual roots make it a natural base for Sinitic in Europe,” said Sinitic CTO Albert Zhuang. “We’ll be sourcing diverse natural language processing talent via local and regional academic partnerships for upcoming R&D projects." Stay tuned for more news on Sinitic's entry into Europe.
